The following projects were completed and Spark during the summer of 2018 and 2019. During my time at TELUS Spark, I was exposed so many different science communicators, creatives, engineers and educators. My fascination with how people move through and interact with spaces grew. With the Exhibit Team, I was able learn and grow in areas like research, prototyping, piloting, project management and exhibit development.
Inspired Adult Spaces
The goal of the Inspired Adult Spaces was to make TELUS Spark just as welcoming for adults as it is for kids.

Pipe Dreams
For the Energy and Innovation gallery, the team wanted to bring in a nostalgic feeling for adults, using the Windows pipe screensaver from the 1990's as inspiration. In order to allow adults to take ownership of the space, the team included comfortable and movable furniture and reading material. The design also allowed for sightlines for parents to see their children playing in the gallery. Through user testing, prototyping and feedback sessions, “Pipe Dreams” was born.
Tree Hug
In the Earth and Sky gallery, the team focused on bring nature from the outside to the inside. This space is meant for visitors to feel like they're walking into nature by creating a raised tree-ring platform, with a living wall. This is a place meant for parents to be able to take a breath away from the busyness of the galleries and their lives. Currently, this space is only partially finished, but will continue to be added to in the coming months.
Earth & Sky Honeybee Exhibit
The goal for this exhibit was to fill a small display space at the entrance of the Earth & Sky gallery. Partnering with Calgary & District Beekeeping Association, the exhibit displaying all of the equipment involved in beekeeping came to life in a small space. Visitors can learn about the honey production process and what kinds of flowers they can plant in their gardens to support the bee population in their neighbourhoods.
